My grandparents took me to Disney World every year since it opened until I was in my late teens. “Thousand circles ’round the Sun”- it gets me every time. That show is special enough, but being there that night, under those circumstances, and, most importantly, being together, well, it’s a memory that will always be in my heart. We spread one blanket on the stones, and snuggled under the second one. We watched from the short stone wall that skirts the Norway Pavilion. Anyway, we waited to watch the second Illuminations show, since that was timed for midnight. As the night went on, I lost count of how many people asked us where we got the blankets. We went there to get Mexican blankets, as pretty much all the sweatshirts had been snatched up. It was so crowded that they would only let into the Mexican Pavilion the same number of people that came out. Disney handed out “Happy New Year” hats and noisemakers, etc. The park was at capacity, and it was also COLD. My wife and I were in EPCOT for New Year’s Eve, 2000.
